Over the course of this past week I accompanied my daughter, her mother and Ava's cousin on a spring break trip to the St. Louis area. I have not been to this city let alone crossed the Mississippi River since 1997 so the opportunity to go turned out to be both exciting and welcomed. What had only been a three and a half day trip felt more like a week as we packed in numerous activities centered around history, nature and learning. The weather for the vernal equinox could not have been more perfect and especially for helping me achieve a significant milestone the first night we were there. While most guys would head out for a pint after everyone was settled, I went scouting around the Missouri River basin looking for somewhere to shoot a small complex of storms lifting from the southwest around midnight.
Alone at a small riverside park across from St. Charles it happened, my FIRST west of Illinois storm!

This was just one of several personal 'firsts' for which many others were shared with my daughter. I will be adding more from our adventures over the next few days.
