Delaware I

Despite the lapse since last post, it has been a continued busy and productive past few months as we continue along our new life path. Earlier in August we were finally able to make an overdue trip to my Pennsylvania hometown so to visit family as well as pay numerous respects. Though somewhat of a somber journey and especially for lacking a very important passenger, the time was well spent and a positive experience overall. Among the highlights was the opportunity of introducing Ava to the Delaware coastline including Lewes, Cape Henlopen and Rehoboth beaches. We were only there for two days but in that limited time I was incredibly fortunate to get some truly once in a lifetime shots. Did not realize how much I've missed the ocean and am extremely grateful for what it allowed me to take home.

Supercell from SE of Springfield Illinois

Despite falling behind on this blog, the past two months have been exceptionally busy and productive. Still on a roller coaster of sorts but surviving. Per the title of this entry, on Sunday June 28th I had some free time so I stepped out with zero expectations to intercept an advancing line of storms coming into Sangamon county. The greatest risk for severe weather was much further to the southwest roughly along the Mississippi river. A cell bearing remarkable characteristics including a 'hook' canvassed the Springfield metropolitan area and quickly went severe for large hail. Positioning to the SE of this storm, I was treated to an unbelievable experience. The bark was worse than it's bite for in spite of considerable motion, cool outflow undercutting the base helped to mitigate the tornado threat. Small to medium sized tree debris littering the path home was indicative of strong wind regardless.

Despite continued neglect of my blog, I've been very productive while riding the ongoing roller coaster of our complicated lifestyle. Mother's Day just came to pass of course and was not an easy holiday for me personally though Ava managed to take it in stride. She's proven to be a rather resilient child for whom I find myself drawing strength from as we handle our day to day inconsistency. Before too much time passes, enjoy some visuals collected since last post. Hope you've been well.
