Valentine Clipper / Thunder Ice

I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day but this February 14 gets a pass for an exciting snowfall event that exceeded expectations. An often tell tale sign of what is to come lit up at dawn with a color scheme that seemed fitting for the holiday.

Once the precipitation arrived, conditions were near white out with an impressive 5" storm total accumulation at my location versus the previously forecast 2-4" that was expected.

I had some help measuring.

On the morning of the 17th, freezing rain and sleet overspread the region.

Not much to see with the leading edge arrival but lightning and thunder were reported, especially to the east.

Appropriate for Washington's Birthday.

Linemen were busy dealing with the numerous power outages to occur.
